Wacom TabletNathan Cowen reviews his newly purchased Wacom Drawing Tablet.
Wacom Tablet
By Nathan Cowen
Recently I bought my first drawing tablet. After a little inner turmoil about which brand to buy, I ultimately decided to go with Wacom. I ended up getting a Graphire4 6”x8” tablet. Immediately upon arrival I ripped open the packaging and installed the drivers for the device. Next, I started Photoshop and Illustrator.
With Photoshop loaded, I started a new file and drew until my heart was content—or maybe it was because my drawing area was filled with crap. Instead of starting a new document to draw in, I simply turned the pen upside down and started erasing. I then tried it in Illustrator. The main difference was that the eraser tool only works in Photoshop.

The next week I tried the tablet on several different computers, none of which had the drivers installed. Without the drivers I had some small lag with the pen, but it was still totally usable. Overall, I would recommend the Graphire4 6”x8” to anyone who is interested in making graphics in a faster, more natural way.
