LIVIN' THE NOT-SO-REAL LIFE

Companies are beginning to set their sights on young adults when thinking up new virtual worlds. With the success of Second Life, media companies are branching out and opening up their eyes to the possibility of this success stretching to the younger crowds. Last year, the Disney Corporation purchased the popular Club Penguin, a virtual world featuring games and activities targeting kids. Since then, the company has started up a world revolving around the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. Disney also plans on opening up another virtual world for young girls, which focuses on fairies and other magical creatures.
